District 2

Kids Talk

Youth Awareness

District of the West Virginia Moose Association held their Youth Awareness Training on Saturday November 15, 2008 at the Fairmont #9 Moose Lodge in downtown Fairmont.  Eleven  Junior and Senior Students were present for the training.  All ten Lodges in District II agreed to provide a $250 Scholarship for any student that would attend the Training and give three "Installs."  These presentations are given to four through nine year olds in an effort to be a positive influence on the students and decisions they will make in the future.  The High School students have from now to February 28 to make their three talks or choose to compete for Congress will be held in Tampa, Florida and the West Virginia winner will receive an all expense paid trip to the Congress and a scholarship.  The State Scholarship ranges from $500 to $2000 and is awarded to the three top students based on the number of 4 through nine year olds the reach and the quality of the book they keep on their presentations.  If the student wins the International, they will receive an additional scholarship of $7000, $5000 or $3000.  This is just another way that the Moose supports Our communities and the youth while we provide benefits to our members.
